Rare picture of the first Church in Maldives

This church was built in Gan, Addu in the southern most atoll of the Maldives. It used to be the worship place of RAF soldiers stationed there at the time.

  3. As I have mentioned it was built by the RAF stationed in Addu at the time, I guess its now that small mosque that you see in Gan. I need to ask around folks down there to see where and what happened to this place.

Shweeto, I am a very resourceful fish ;) LOL

  5. True. That was the church used, later the same church was used as the mosque after the RAF base was shut down. And very recently, in 2007, the mosque was demolished and a new mosques is there right now.

There is one more such place. The place where the RAF used to keep their Dog. Interestingly the same place was changed and used as a VIP room and believe it or not, our former transport minister Ilyas Ibrahim used this room. By then the seniors(elders) were secretly laughing and telling the others Ilyas is given the place of Dog.

Anyhow, do you own the rights to this image?

Cause I've had this and several other pictures from the RAF days for a long time now.
