Blame the Parents

Most of today's youth were brought up in the overly molly-coddling arms of our parents. We were brought up weak, not tough enough to take the blows and jabs that real life gives without breaking down completely or giving up.

When John Locke was trying to teach Charlie how to fight back his heroin withdrawals, he shows Charlie a cocoon on a trees and says something to this effect; "You see this little hole? This moth's just about to emerge. It's in there right now, struggling. It's digging it's way through the thick hide of the cocoon. Now, I could help it - take my knife, gently widen the opening, and the moth would be free - but it would be too weak to survive. Struggle is nature's way of strengthening it".

Parents need to rethink their overly pampering attitude they have when it comes to their kids. Don't get me wrong, am not asking you to beat up your kid like Spartans used to roughen up their kids :P

  1. its the maldivian culture. parents are supposed to support their kids even when they are in the late 20s. They dont have to contribute to rent or electricity or water, daddy and mommy takes care of that!
I think when someone gets a job the free ride should stop!
