The name Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is to Dhivehi raajjey ge Raseesul Jumhooriyaa is as OMO is to any washing powder, as Colgate is to any toothpaste. I wonder if the heading I have written is going to be the headline on day after tomorrow's news. It might also be written "Maumoon Abdul Gayoom elected president of Maldives for the 7th time", even though by constitution no Maldivian is allowed to hold office for more then 2 terms.
I might be side-stepping the topic, but I wonder how a man could surivive as president for over 3 decades and get re-elected and that too in the country with the highest divorce rate.
Anyhow what would happen if Maumoon gets re-elected? Could that spark something like Black Friday (2004) ? or a series of Violent street protests?
And what happens if Maumoon lose this election? More violence? Civil war? How will we address our new president? His excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom?? O.o

it is going to be very difficult for use to say anything other than "raeesul jumhooriyya maumoon..."
whoever gets elected will have to get used to be called maumoon before his name (at least for some time)
