Difference Between "THEN" and "THAN"

Since I started text messaging, I have replaced both "THEN" and "THAN" with "DAN" that I have completely forgotten that these are two different words. Whats the difference between these words that sounds the same?

THAN
According to Cambridge Advanced Learners dictionary: THAN is defined as word used to join two parts of a comparison:

Example: I am dumber than you

THEN
And THEN is used in relation to time, or when describing chronological sequence of event

Example: I lost my marbles and then they took me to Guraidhoo

  1. i sometimes have problem confusing "then" with the dhivehi word "dhen" while chatting... but it's almost the same thing, eh? so doesn't make much difference.
