The One about Menstruation

Women, girls, ladies all of em from a very Hot planet called Venus...and today we are focusing on one of their unique features, that no man can ever exhibit (wonder if any man would ever want to)- Menstruation (more about the biology).

For those who have no idea what it means - its the monthly shedding of the lining of the uterus (ENDOMETRIUM) in women of childbearing age. yep! a lot of blood and stuff flowing out...

we will breakdown the menstrual cycle into phases:

Menstruation -> Follicular phase -> Ovulation -> Luteal phase -> Ischemuic Phase

and this cycle continues on and on from Puberty till
menopause

1. Menstruation: as mentioned before, during this phase the endometrium wall of the uterus breaks down,

2. Follicular phase: now that the endometrial wall is all broken down, its time to repair it... Wonder why they have it break it up every time and re-make it... if you think about it, you might wonder what a waste... lets leave that question to the real scientists... something called the FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONE (FSH) comes around to make something called FOLLICLES (Guess its inside the Follicles that the eggs grow)... these babies would cry out OESTROGEN - the main hormone involved in repairing the endometrium wall

3. Ovulation: the wall is done... and the egg is all grown up and all mature, and now crying out something called the LUTIENIZING HORMONE - its matures the egg and weakens the walls of the follicle in the ovary, leading to OVULATION: Release of the Mature EGG (Ovam)

4. Luteal Phase: Something called a CORPUS LUTEUM is formed in ovaries where the egg is released. This Corpus luteum releases hormones: PROGESTERONES and OESTROGEN.
Progesterone would sorta furnish the endometrium wall to make it more suitable for the egg to reside in... and it maintains the wall intact... well if the egg ain't fertilized there is really no point of the wall... (we will skip what happens if the egg is fertilized)... The corpus luteum would breakdown and Progesterone level would drop and back to menstruation...

In short:

Follicles (FSH makes follicles which in turn makes OESTROGEN and it makes the endometrium wall) ->

Ovulation (The egg when mature will start releasing LUTENIZING HORMONE which would help to release the mature egg) ->

Corpus Luteum (Formed where the egg is released and produced PROGESTERONE which helps maintain the endometrium wall) ->

degeneration of Corpus Luteum (would stop production of progesterone leading to menses)
